What Are Managed IT Services?

Managed IT services are tasks which are handled by a third party, frequently in the context of business information technology services. The managed services model is a way to offload general tasks to an expert in order to reduce costs, improve service quality, or free internal teams to do work that’s specific to their business. A company that provides these service offerings is called a managed service provider (MSP).

Terabyte offers a wide variety of managed services, ranging from basic IT services to managed cybersecurity services, cloud migration, project work and more.

What Are Managed IT Service Providers?

A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a third party IT company that manages and assumes responsibility for providing a defined set of business technology services to its clients.

Managed IT solutions can range from completely outsourcing your IT needs, a one-time IT consulting project, or a co-managed IT services agreement with your existing in-house IT team.

Terabyte offers competitive managed service pricing which is based on a flat-rate monthly subscription service, including unlimited remote support.

We offer a service desk that can solve most problems on-demand. We also let you “self-triage” your problem, which means you can call in for any problem—no matter how big or how small. IT help desk solutions are a big benefit of IT service providers, so make sure you’re getting the right type of support for your organisation.

The most common tech support problems are end-user issues. For example, inability to connect to the internet, a slow or frozen computer, lost passwords, inability to print, or difficulty logging in. We can solve these IT problems remotely using cloud-based tools that allow full access to your network and systems. Terabyte’s remote support services include installation of software, cloud services, advanced troubleshooting and repairs of applications, and a cost-effective method of keeping your staff up and running.

With the growing popularity of cloud-based services, many IT support tasks are done remotely. But there are still issues where on-site IT solutions are either desired or required. Terabyte will always send an engineer to your site for problems we cannot solve remotely. We also offer regularly scheduled on-premises services.

One of the most important ways service providers can protect your business from cyberattacks is to keep your software and operating systems up to date. Failure to do so means you not only miss out on new features, you also open the door to hackers who target organisations that haven’t applied the latest security updates. If you lack the staff to manage your IT infrastructure on a regular basis, Terabyte are able to take over responsibility for this critical task to ensure business continuity with automated software updates, patch solutions, and security updates, including antivirus and antispam.

Want to keep your IT environment running at top operational performance? Terabyte provides around-the-clock monitoring and management of all the components in your network, including routers, firewalls, and switches. Our automated systems efficiently detect and report failures of devices and connections as we proactively monitor and optimise your computers, servers, and other network elements.

Today’s organisations are creating more data than ever before, and protecting that data is a priority. This calls for a robust data backup and disaster recovery solution that forms the foundation for business continuity. Your data backup and disaster recovery system is one of the most important investments for protecting your company. Terabyte can help you choose, deploy and manage the backup and recovery solution that’s best for your business. We offer multiple options that will meet your backup and recovery needs.

Evaluating, purchasing, and installing IT hardware/ software is a time-consuming process. Security is a huge concern for every organisation, but very few have the resources to effectively combat cyber threats and attacks. Access to sophisticated cybersecurity protection is one of the top reasons businesses hire Managed IT Service Providers.

What Are the Benefits of a Managed Service Provider?

Organisations of all sizes outsource their information technology needs to third-party providers for many reasons. How many of these benefits could help your organisation right now?

With today’s global shortage of skilled IT workers, hiring and retaining in-house talent can be expensive. Switching to managed IT services is often easier and can dramatically reduce IT expenses.

In-house IT staff can become overwhelmed as your organisation grows. Outsourced IT services will ensure your business is capturing maximum performance from your technology infrastructure.

A managed service provider enables you to tap into higher levels of IT skill sets, so you can allocate your in-house IT resources more effectively. This also unlocks greater value across your organisation.

System failures can cost small businesses vast amounts of money per incident. Managed IT service providers will ensure your technology is always secure and running at optimal efficiency.

Because managed IT services are typically billed as a fixed monthly subscription, you see fewer budget surprises. As a result, you’re able to plan for the future more effectively and confidently.

Delegating complex technology decisions to a trusted IT services provider enables you to concentrate on core competencies and seize growth opportunities for your own organisation.

How We Deliver Managed IT Services

We pride ourselves on delivering an excellent customer experience from day one and our comprehensive onboarding process is a key part of this experience.

Our onboarding process consists of four phases:

Phase 1 : Managed Service Definition

At the beginning of any client onboarding, understanding the definition of managed IT services is a crucial part of the entire process. We discuss every service outlined in the Service Agreement. This process helps us gain an in-depth understanding of your business in preparation for onsite data gathering, documentation processing and ongoing managed IT support services.

Phase 2 : IT Data Collection

An engineer will carry out a site visit to gather information about your IT environment and begin a documentation process. They will work their way through an extensive checklist, covering elements such as network investigation, security assessment, backup verification, server room inspections and policy documentation.

Phase 3 : Internal Information Review

The primary goal of this phase is to ensure that your IT environment and infrastructure meets your needs and that you have the technology in place to help your business grow. We will gather and internally review the information collected in Phase 2.

Phase 4 : Orientation Meeting and Onboarding

We meet with you to review the information gathered in Phase 3. This review includes a discussion of all our findings, including recommendations for additional changes. Once the required managed services have been agreed, the implementation process will begin.
